Triad Wars struggled to carve out a niche in the competitive gaming market.
While Rockstar Games successfully launched Grand Theft Auto Online, which continues to evolve today, the gaming industry is also littered with failed attempts at establishing criminal-themed multiplayer epics.
To this day, many gamers still recall Triad Wars—the defunct live-service title developed by the team behind Sleeping Dogs. Although the project failed to become a commercial hit, it introduced several compelling concepts that still pique players’ curiosity.
The Triad Wars Revived Project is a community-driven initiative aimed at resurrecting the experience. Last year, a user named sneakyevil released the original project files to the public. Building on that foundation, a solo enthusiast known as nedanels took up the mantle to develop a brand-new server emulator.
As of 2024, development on the Triad Wars Revived Project is moving forward steadily. Several core mechanics are already functional, including the raiding and racketeering systems, base construction, vendor shops, and vehicle mechanics.
Early adopters are already testing the current build and sharing their gameplay footage across the web.
