GTA VI-Style Game in Development on Roblox, Players Surprised by Gameplay Footage
A gameplay teaser for Nightshift, a project built on Roblox, has gone viral on social media because of its unusually polished visuals.
Developers use the well-known game platform Roblox to build a huge variety of projects. Graphics in these games are often far from impressive, but some projects stand out for their image quality.
The teaser comes from the Roblox developer “KooutroRBLX,” who shared gameplay footage of Nightshift. In the video, he shows a segment of a car ride. It begins with a look at the car model, then the camera moves in on the tires, where “smoke” effects are visible. After that, he drives through a city and sends the car into a controlled drift.
The footage impressed viewers. Some said the game looks like a remake of the cult racing game Need for Speed: Underground 2, and at first glance others took it for a simplified take on GTA VI. Not everyone in the discussion could believe the clip actually shows a Roblox project, and some asked “how is this even possible?”
According to KooutroRBLX, optimization for mobile devices was the Nightshift team’s top priority from the start. The project will also run on PC.
The actual Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
