Cosplayers Recreate Elden Ring’s Miquella and Malenia in Matching Gold and Rot Looks

Cosplayers Azula and Anastasia “Tobikashi” Vaskova have transformed into Miquella and Malenia from Elden Ring, the demigod twins who carry heavy curses in their bodies.

Photographer Ekaterina Morpheeva took her camera into the harsh world of the action RPG Elden Ring to capture some of the demigod inhabitants of the Lands Between.

During the shoot, Azula and Anastasia “Tobikashi” Vaskova appeared as two of the game’s best-known characters, Miquella and Malenia.

The two are brother and sister, twins born of the union of Queen Marika and Radagon. Both carry heavy divine curses. Malenia was struck by rot that slowly destroys her body from within, while Miquella was cursed with eternal youth, which left his body stuck in childhood forever.

The twins’ relationship rests on absolute devotion, deep love, and mutual protection. Malenia willingly gave up her own ambitions for the throne and declared herself “Miquella’s Blade,” becoming his personal protector and a formidable weapon while her brother searched for a way to cure them both of their curses.

Miquella, who has remarkable intellect and empathy, created the unique Haligtree and an alloy of pure gold that can hold back the influence of outer gods and stop the spread of rot in his sister’s body. Nearly all of Malenia’s military campaigns and battles were driven by her wish to protect her brother and help him carry out his plans to remake the world.

The characters look strikingly different, and their appearances reflect their curses. Malenia is a tall, stately warrior with long, bright red hair. Rot has severely disfigured her body, and slender golden prosthetics replace her right arm and both legs. In battle she wears a winged helm that covers her sightless eyes, along with a light cape that emphasizes her speed.

Miquella, by contrast, is described and portrayed as a frail boy with long golden hair in braids, radiating holiness, purity, and innocence.
