Daft Punk Reportedly Turned Down GTA VI Involvement Despite Supposedly Unlimited Budget
Rockstar ultimately went with a different French electronic group, Justice.
Rockstar Games reportedly asked Daft Punk to reunite for the Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack, but the musicians were not interested. According to rumors, the studio was ready to commit a nearly unlimited budget to the project.
The account Has It Leaked, which specializes in leaks about the music industry, shared the claim on October 19. According to the account, Rockstar representatives contacted the French duo’s management and hoped to arrange a comeback specifically for GTA VI.
The musicians reportedly declined not because of the financial terms, but because they did not want to perform as Daft Punk again. The duo announced its breakup in 2021, and no reunion has been reported since.
