The holiday edition of Fallout 4, issued last week, has met with fan displeasure — a reaction amplified by the removal of one of the game’s most recognizable songs.
Reddit users spotted that Dion’s “The Wanderer” is no longer included in the Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition playlist. The song was central to the game’s original marketing and became closely associated with the title. In 2017, Dion filed a lawsuit over the track’s use in Fallout 4 advertising, though the case was later closed.
No official reason for the track’s removal has been given. Some speculate Bethesda chose not to renew the license or wanted to avoid legal complications when reissuing the decade-old game.
Fans are outraged: “This is ridiculous — the song was iconic and featured throughout the ads,” writes user wizardofyz. Others add, “That’s the song I always associate with Fallout 4.” Mods will likely restore the track, but the decision has given critics another reason to fault the Anniversary Edition.
Supporters are also frustrated by the re-release’s instability, persistent bugs, and the continued silence regarding Fallout 5.
