Xbox has officially rescheduled the highly anticipated launch of Fable to February 2027. In a recent statement shared via X, the company explained that pushing back Playground Games’ ambitious reboot of this iconic series will grant the title the “dedicated moment it deserves,” particularly given the congested release calendar slated for the remainder of the year.
With the studio having recently debuted Forza Horizon 6, this extension provides the team at Playground Games additional runway to polish their latest project. Xbox users, however, will have no shortage of high-profile titles to occupy their time in 2026. The platform’s robust roadmap includes heavy hitters such as Minecraft Dungeons II, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and the newly unveiled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Furthermore, the gaming landscape will be dominated by the November arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI, which remains a massive focal point for the industry.
“To ensure our upcoming holiday lineup provides the best possible experience for our players, we have decided to move Fable to February 2027,” the official announcement noted. “We look forward to showcasing a deeper look at Fable, alongside our broader portfolio, during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7.”
The June 7 event is expected to be a cornerstone for Xbox, featuring a mix of highly anticipated updates and signature surprise reveals. For those tracking the season, the Game Informer video team will be hosting a live reaction stream on June 7 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Fable is slated to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in early 2027.
