Magic Is Planning Another Kpop Demon Hunters Collab After Secret Lair Drop

Sony Pictures Animation’s 2025 blockbuster KPop Demon Hunters quickly evolved into a massive cultural touchstone, shattering historical viewership records for Netflix originals. The narrative—following the fictional K-pop sensation Huntr/x as they leverage their musical prowess to defend the realm against otherworldly forces—sparked a frenzy that compelled global brands to fast-track lucrative merchandising partnerships, paving the way for themed Lego sets and McDonald’s collaborations throughout 2026.

The latest high-profile crossover arrives courtesy of Wizards of the Coast, with Magic: The Gathering incorporating a dedicated KPop Demon Hunters collaboration into its October 12 Secret Lair Corn Maze Superdrop. Even before these initial cards officially debut, Wizards is already laying the groundwork for an expanded partnership. On October 4, the official MTG Secret Lair social media channel teased on X: “Secret Lair x KPop Demon Hunters: How It’s Done enters the Corn Maze Superdrop on October 12. The crowd’s already chanting for more. Good thing we’ve got more planned! Stay tuned.”

Magic has more Kpop Demon Hunters Secret Lairs planned

This confirmation is particularly thrilling given that the inaugural drop barely scratches the surface of the film’s rich aesthetic and narrative potential. Naming the collection after “How It’s Done”—the movie’s infectious opening anthem—strongly implies that subsequent releases could spotlight other chart-topping tracks. A “Golden” themed drop could easily lean into vibrant, multi-colored spellcasting, “Takedown” offers an ideal framework for hyper-aggressive mechanics, and “Your Idol” could finally thrust the charismatic Saja Boys and their demonic entourage into the spotlight.

While “How It’s Done” introduced a wonderfully whimsical rendition of Swan Song featuring Sussie, the hat-wearing demonic avian, it feels like a missed opportunity that her lovable, dim-witted giant tiger companion, Derpy, hasn’t yet been immortalized in cardboard. Hasbro could seamlessly reimagine Jinu’s loyal animal companions as fresh variants of Esior, Wardwing Familiar and Falthis, Shadowcat Familiar. Furthermore, considering how frequently the members of Huntr/x indulge in couch-side snacking throughout the film, the absence of whimsical Food tokens—akin to the charming designs introduced for The Hobbit—is genuinely surprising.

Ultimately, the expansive universe of KPop Demon Hunters boasts enough creative depth to warrant its own standalone Commander deck, following the successful blueprint of the Hatsune Miku Secret Lair release from last August. Rumi, for instance, would make a phenomenal alternative commander for Narci, Fable Singer; her complex demonic lineage and quest to safeguard humanity by completing the Golden Honmoon translate effortlessly into an Abzan (white-black-green) color identity centered around resolving Sagas.

Magic’s design team has recently emphasized a renewed commitment to traditional fantasy aesthetics within their Universes Beyond and Secret Lair lines, responding directly to fan fatigue surrounding previous pop-culture crossovers like Marvel superheroes and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As a thoroughly modern fantasy masterpiece backed by an intensely devoted fanbase, KPop Demon Hunters represents the absolute pinnacle of what these collaborations can achieve, virtually guaranteeing that Hasbro will continue mining this rich vein of content for future releases.
