The road network was rebuilt as part of the Scandinavia Refresh for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Scandinavia Refresh is part of update 1.57, released on November 20, 2025. SCS Software first detailed the road work in May, when it was still in development. The project replaced repeated prefab intersections from the original DLC with custom junctions based on recognizable layouts in Denmark and Sweden.

Reworked routes in Denmark

Near Kolding, the real E20 and E45 connection consists of three junctions spread across roughly eight kilometres. The ETS2 version condenses them into one large triangular interchange so the arrangement works at the game’s map scale.

The Nørresund junction near Aalborg was recreated at close to a one-to-one scale. SCS also added the nearby fuel station and truck stop on the E45 between Aalborg and Aarhus.

Other Danish changes include a redesigned Germany-Denmark border crossing, inland Routes 16 and 26 through Viborg, a new fuel stop and a rebuilt Oddesund drawbridge with an operating lift. These routes add alternatives to the main motorway corridor.

Changes around Gothenburg and the E4

In Sweden, the team partially rebuilt Gothenburg’s dense motorway network along the E6 and E20. The connection between the E20 and Road 40 was also revised to follow the real arrangement more closely.

Gothenburg received updated links around the E6, E20 and Road 40.

Four existing truck stops along the E4 were reworked. One location with an aircraft-shaped candy shop changed from a roadside landmark into a usable truck stop with a fuel station. At Brahehus, the rest area and castle ruins were improved and the site gained a depot. The stop near Nyköping received similar work.

Rest areas along the E4 now serve as functional stops and delivery locations.

The final 1.57 release expanded the refresh beyond these early road previews. It added updated textures, vegetation and road assets, new rest and fuel stops, the cities of Aarhus and Karlstad, and a rebuilt Copenhagen.
