However, some limitations apply.
The Epic Games Store has added a gifting feature that lets users send games to friends — a function players have been requesting since the platform launched in 2018.
Game pages now display a new “Buy as Gift” button alongside the “Buy Now”, “Wishlist”, and “Add to Cart” options.
After a gift is purchased, the recipient has 14 days to accept it. If they already own the game or decline the gift, the payment is automatically refunded to the sender. Gifts can only be sent to accounts on your friends list.
There are, however, constraints: gifting is currently restricted to the same region — attempts to send a gift to another region will produce an error at checkout. Epic says cross-region gifting will be introduced in a future update. Also, gifts must be bought separately for each friend.
If Epic keeps releasing features at this pace, the Epic Games Store could eventually narrow the gap with Steam.
