EA Hosts Battlefield 6 Open Day to Distract From Modern Warfare 4 Beta
A new free trial for Battlefield 6 launched on August 18 and runs through Tuesday, August 25. The trial overlaps with the first beta testing session for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which kicks off on August 21.
The timing aligns with a long-standing pattern of counterprogramming between the two shooter franchises. While Battlefield Studios has previously scheduled free periods alongside major game updates, both series have frequently targeted each other’s launch windows. Last year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 offered a week-long free trial during the release week of Battlefield 6. Roughly a month later, Battlefield 6 went free for a week following the troubled launch of Black Ops 7.

This latest Battlefield 6 trial coincides with the mid-season update for Season 4 and a crossover event with Top Gun. The trial grant access to both new maps from the season as well as Carrier Strike, a mode developed for the film collaboration.
Nearly all content from the Top Gun event is accessible at no cost. The collaboration’s second mode, Fighter Sweep, is already part of RedSec, the free-to-play version of Battlefield 6.
The first beta weekend for Modern Warfare 4 runs from August 21 through August 25.
