Black Salt Games has shared the first details about a new project.

The developers of Dredge from Black Salt Games have announced the formation of a new studio called Team Trifold. The team consists of just three people and is located in Christchurch near Black Salt Games and Disc 2 Games.

All three studios will continue to operate independently of one another while sharing resources through Saltworks Entertainment. This new structure will handle marketing, localization, quality assurance, audio, and publishing matters so that the developers can focus on their creative work:

“We like working in small teams. This format helps maintain creative focus, and the resources and experience that do not make sense to keep inside each individual studio can be shared.”
Nadia Thorne, head of Black Salt Games

Team Trifold’s debut project will be the isometric action roguelike Nothing Lost. The story centers on generations of shamans trying to conquer the Tower of Souls. A key gameplay mechanic is legacy: after a character dies, their spirit and all accumulated abilities remain inside the dungeon. The next hero can find the fallen predecessor to claim their powers or summon them as a combat assistant.

Nothing Lost is being developed for PC. The game’s page is already available on Steam, though a release date has not yet been announced.
