Double Fine Raises $50,000 for Voice Actress Who Agreed to Work for Free

Double Fine previously stated that it planned to invite Erika Ishii to voice its next game.

Double Fine previously boasted that it raised more than $550,000 for the development of its next project and promised to hire Ghost of Yōtei star Erika Ishii if crowdfunding surpassed the $600,000 mark.

Through simple math, people concluded that Ishii’s services would cost Double Fine $50,000. However, as it turned out, the actress agreed to work with the studio completely free of charge to support Double Fine’s independent endeavors. Furthermore, this was not revealed by journalists through some kind of investigation, but was shared by Double Fine itself.

People are now wondering why Double Fine promised to include voice acting from Ishii in the project only if players raised $600,000 for the studio, even though the actress had already agreed to work with them.
