Diddy Helps Arrange Thanksgiving Meal for Inmates While Incarcerated

While serving his first year at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, Sean “Diddy” Combs — now 56 — helped organize and underwrite a Thanksgiving meal for roughly 1,000 incarcerated people on Thursday, Nov. 27, according to TMZ.

Representatives said Diddy views the holiday as an opportunity to make sure others are fed. “Thanksgiving, to me, is about making sure other people eat,” he told the outlet through a spokesperson. “Everyone misses their family during the holidays. Folks can get down — we wanted to come together and feel like family.”

Working with a group called Bankroll Bosses, Diddy and collaborators gathered commissary items, spent two days preparing the food, and delivered complete meals to every housing unit at Fort Dix. The Thanksgiving fare included roast turkey with trimmings, mashed potatoes, corn and dessert.

With limited kitchen resources, volunteers improvised: they used ID cards to portion and cut food, and had no access to microwaves or stoves while assembling the dinners.

Combs was transferred to FCI Fort Dix in October to serve a 50-month sentence after a July conviction on two counts related to transportation to engage in prostitution. He was ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and to serve supervised release following his imprisonment. His legal team is challenging the conviction and the imposed prison term.

Reflecting on life behind bars, Diddy told TMZ there is a strong sense of camaraderie among inmates. “There’s a lot of misinterpretation about prison,” he said. “There’s a strong brotherhood — we look out for each other. It can feel like a little bit of home in a dark place.”
