The surprise re-release of Scarface has sparked numerous questions.

Scarface (2006) was recently reissued on the Epic Games Store. A Steam storefront page has also appeared, although the title has not yet launched on Valve’s platform.

Concerns surround this release: it appears to include fan-made mods, and not all mod authors were contacted by the developers. Modder Silent even claimed, “I KNOW the Scarface license holder was not prepared to re-release the game, so this is suspicious.”

Shortly after, a representative of publisher EC Digital wrote on Steam that the page “was intended as a placeholder while we address current licensing and technical matters” — negotiations are ongoing:

We recently entered urgent discussions with multiple parties regarding the project’s status. After careful review, we believe temporarily removing the store page is the most prudent course of action, and we have started coordinating with Valve to ensure this happens in the near future.

He also urged people not to publish personal information about those involved in the project:

We also strongly request that no one harass or disclose the personal information of anyone involved. Some of our partners, who work on entirely different projects, have already been affected, and we deeply regret placing them in this position.
