Diablo Creator David Brevik Names Hit “Diabloid” That His Company Wanted to Publish

Diablo’s creator and Skystone Games president, David Brevik, recently shared his perspective on working from the publisher’s side. Skystone’s lineup includes standout projects, from the PS1‑styled Tyrant’s Realm to the cozy Tiny Bookshop.

Skystone has in development the looter RPG Mistfall Hunter and a culinary-themed title called Arcane Eats. Brevik confessed, however, that there was one ARPG they nearly published — Last Epoch.

In the interview, when asked if he’d like to see this “Diablo-esque” game in Skystone’s catalog, Brevik replied:

Definitely. We tried to persuade them to let us handle publishing. In the end they chose to self‑publish, but we pushed hard and came very close. And yes — that’s precisely the type of project we’re always on the lookout for.

Eleventh Hour Games, the studio behind Last Epoch, was clearly inspired by Diablo. Brevik added:

They’re a solid team — genuinely very, very pleasant people. I spent a lot of time with them; they’d come over to my place, play board games and hang out.
