Warner Bros. has shared updates regarding Dynamic Duo, the upcoming Robin-focused DC animated film. The project has been slightly delayed, but Warner Bros. also revealed the main voice cast.

According to Deadline, Dynamic Duo moves from June 30, 2028, to September 22, 2028. Warner Bros. has two reasons for the schedule change. The studio wants to position the animated feature as a back-to-school film aimed at teens and college audiences. Paramount, which is currently merging with Warner Bros., plans to release the Call of Duty movie on June 30, 2028, while having no releases slated for September 22. Dynamic Duo is not the only title affected, as the next Gremlins movie moved from 2027 to 2028.

The InSneider reported the main cast for Dynamic Duo. Mason Thames from How to Train Your Dragon stars as Dick Grayson. Logan Kim from Ghostbusters: Afterlife plays Jason Todd. Marsai Martin from G20 portrays Barbara Gordon. Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies and Guardians of the Galaxy plays Red Hood 1. Steve Buscemi from Fargo and Reservoir Dogs voices Red Hood 2. Chris Pine has reportedly been offered the role of Bruce Wayne and Batman.

Will Dynamic Duo be canon to James Gunn’s DCU?

James Gunn, the architect of the new DC Universe of film and television projects, confirmed that Dynamic Duo takes place outside his main canon. The film will likely be categorized as an Elseworlds story, meaning it stands alone. The future of Batman in the DCU remains open, with no plans to integrate Robert Pattinson’s iteration into the shared universe. Gunn plans to introduce his version of Batman in The Brave and the Bold, though that production has no solid release details yet.

Dynamic Duo follows the origins of Dick Grayson, the first Robin, and Jason Todd, the second character to take on the mantle. Arthur Mintz directs the film from a script written by Matthew Aldrich, who worked on Coco and Lightyear. Rather than traditional animation, the production utilizes a combination of miniatures, puppetry, animatronics, models, and CGI.
