David Hayter Reprises Role as Solid Snake in Rainbow Six

Ubisoft has unveiled an ambitious trajectory for Year 11 of Rainbow Six Siege, headlined by a high-profile collaboration with the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The inaugural season, titled Operation Silent Hunt, will officially integrate Solid Snake into the tactical shooter’s permanent Operator roster. In a move that has energized the fanbase, legendary voice actor David Hayter is returning to provide an entirely new vocal performance for the iconic protagonist.

Disclosed during the recent Rainbow Six Invitational, the Year 11 roadmap begins its rollout on March 3. Throughout the next four seasons, the development team plans to implement rigorous anti-cheat enhancements, significant balancing overhauls, and a steady stream of fresh content. The Metal Gear Solid crossover serves as the centerpiece of the first quarter, introducing specialized game modes and franchise-inspired cosmetics.

While the addition of Snake is a major gameplay milestone, Hayter’s participation carries immense weight for series veterans. Hayter defined the character from the 1998 classic through 2010’s Peace Walker, a streak that famously concluded when Kiefer Sutherland was cast for Metal Gear Solid V. Although Hayter’s voice has appeared in recent legacy collections and cameos, his work on Rainbow Six Siege marks his most significant return to the role in a decade, featuring bespoke voice cues tailored for the shooter’s tactical environment.

The update also debuts a limited-time 4v4 “Infiltration” mode, where players join teams led by Snake and Zero to recover classified data. Furthermore, the 6v6 Dual Front playlist will receive a new mission titled “Last Assignment,” which Ubisoft designed as a thematic tribute to Hideo Kojima’s legendary series. Players can also customize their existing Operators with Metal Gear aesthetics, including a Gray Fox skin for Jackal and a Meryl Silverburgh outfit for Ash.

Looking further ahead, Year 11 will introduce the Calypso Casino map, the transition to Ranked 3.0, and the long-anticipated arrival of native mouse and keyboard support for console players. The tactical espionage action begins when Rainbow Six Siege Season One: Operation Silent Hunt launches on March 3.
