Daughter Asks Rockstar to Let Terminally Ill Father Play GTA VI Before Release

A user hopes that Rockstar Games will notice her appeal.

Grand Theft Auto VI has taken many years to develop, and its release date has shifted several times. The launch is currently scheduled for November 19, 2026, but some franchise fans risk not living to see that moment.

A user known as lexakommurry recently published an appeal to Rockstar Games. She stated that her father is a longtime GTA fan who has spent thousands of hours in the games. He eagerly awaited the release of the sixth numbered entry and specifically bought a PlayStation 5 console to play it when it comes out.

However, lexakommurry explains, he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, and doctors estimate he has only a few weeks left to live. She wants the developers to give her father a chance to play Grand Theft Auto VI.

We are ready to provide proof of the hours he has spent in the game, his diagnosis, and to sign a non-disclosure agreement or any other necessary legal documents. He is a wonderful person and a great father. I really want to give him the chance to play what he has waited years for before he passes away. This would also help him—and us—distract ourselves briefly while time relentlessly slips away.

Previously, Rockstar Games has granted terminally ill gamers early access to its titles. For example, eight years ago, Jurian was able to experience Red Dead Redemption 2 before its official launch.
