Darkwood Reoccurring Nightmare Mod Restores Cut Content and Revamps Gameplay
Players have a new reason to return to Darkwood.
Modder |Totalitarian| recently released a major project called Darkwood: Reoccurring Nightmare. It restores content and reworks various horror mechanics.
It offers players improved dodging, field repairs using toolkits, and the ability to tape a flashlight to a shotgun with duct tape. In addition, players can upgrade all weapon models.
|Totalitarian| published a release trailer for the modification:
The modder also refined melee combat and shooting, made weapon switching more convenient, and sped up the movement of light items. Furthermore, the project restores content including items, weapons, music tracks, locations, and enemies.

|Totalitarian| noted that controller support was fixed. Artificial intelligence has also been improved, ranging “from smarter behavior during target search and pursuit to additional combat behavior nuances.” Additionally, the modder updated the balance and revised the enemy spawn system, noting that “there are not many safe places left in the world.”
The Darkwood: Reoccurring Nightmare modification is available for free on ModDB.
