Daredevil: Born Again to End with Season 3
It is the end of an era for the man without fear. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daredevil: Born Again‘s forthcoming third season will also be its final one.
Filming for Daredevil: Born Again wrapped two months ago, and the series is currently in post-production. Showrunner Dario Scardapane and Marvel have quietly parted ways, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Marvel reportedly did not renew his contract, leaving it unclear who will oversee the remainder of post-production on the Disney Plus series.
Daredevil: Born Again serves as a sequel series to the original Netflix Daredevil show. The revival experienced a turbulent development period and underwent an extensive overhaul during the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Originally envisioned as an 18-episode show, Born Again was split into two separate seasons before a third season was confirmed around this time last year.
Ending Daredevil: Born Again is the latest sign that Marvel Studios is winding down its television offerings on Disney Plus. Marvel renewed Wonder Man for a second season before surprisingly canceling the project just a few months later. VisionQuest premieres in October, while Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 follows in January 2027. The animated Spider-Man series and Born Again‘s third season represent the only shows currently and publicly planned for 2027, marking a sharp decline from past years when Marvel Studios debuted five shows on Disney Plus in 2021.
What will Daredevil: Born Again season 3 be about?

Editor’s note: Spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 and potential spoilers for its third season follow.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 concluded with Mayor Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, losing his grip on New York City. As part of his effort to take down Fisk, Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox, revealed his identity as Daredevil to the public and was promptly arrested. Viewers can presumably expect to find him behind bars at the start of the next season.

Set photos indicate who will appear in the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again. Following a brief return by Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, in season 2, the entire Defenders lineup reunites for season 3. Set photographs reveal the return of Danny Rand/Iron Fist, played by Finn Jones, alongside Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter. The exact scale of the roles for Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage remains to be seen.

The returns of Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter demonstrate that viewers should never say never when it comes to Marvel. Even though Daredevil: Born Again is ending, that does not mean Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, and other characters will disappear permanently. Charlie Cox already appeared in a major Marvel Cinematic Universe film with a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher, who debuted in the Netflix series and appeared in Born Again, has also made the leap to the big screen with a notable role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
