Dakota Johnson is moving into the director’s chair for the drama “Blue Tree.” The story focuses on a woman on the autism spectrum who finds the strength to break free from the guardianship of an excessively controlling mother. Johnson has called the material deeply personal.
The screenplay is by Vanessa Berghardt, who portrayed the daughter of Johnson’s character in Cooper Raeff’s tragicomedy “In the Rhythm of Cha-Cha-Cha.”
Dakota Johnson and Vanessa Berghardt will headline “Blue Tree,” with Jessica Alba and Charli XCX appearing in supporting roles.
