Cyberpunk 2077 Leaving Xbox Game Pass This Month

Microsoft has revealed the upcoming departures for Xbox Game Pass, with a fresh wave of 10 titles slated to leave the subscription service on September 15. Headlining this month’s departures is Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed sci-fi RPG that has successfully turned its trajectory around from a rocky launch to widespread critical adoration.

Having joined the library back in March, Cyberpunk 2077 will have enjoyed a six-month stint on the platform. This follows the removal of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt last month—a move likely designed to encourage players to purchase the upcoming remaster ahead of its September 29 release. While a true sequel to Cyberpunk remains distant, the highly anticipated second season of the Netflix animated series Edgerunners debuts exclusively on October 20. CD Projekt Red will undoubtedly look to capitalize on the resulting resurgence in mainstream interest.

Alongside Night City’s premier epic, nine additional titles will cycle out of the catalog on September 15. Subscribers should note the following departures:

  • Commandos: Origins (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Cricket 24 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (Cloud and Console)
  • Dead Cells (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Deep Rock Galactic Survivor (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Frostpunk 2 (PC)
  • Mullet Madjack (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Spiritfarer (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Superliminal (Cloud, Console, and PC)
  • Train Sim World 5 (Cloud, Console, and PC)

Among the notable casualties is the celebrated roguelike Metroidvania Dead Cells, a 2018 masterpiece that remains a gold standard for the genre. Enthusiasts of the title will want to keep a close eye on developer Evil Empire’s upcoming project, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, scheduled for release on October 15. Furthermore, players are strongly encouraged to experience Spiritfarer—a poignant, beautifully crafted indie management game about guiding departed souls to the afterlife—before it exits the library.

On the flip side, the service is preparing to welcome seven new arrivals this month. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War anchors the batch when it arrives on September 8. It will be joined by Shelldiver, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed, The Royal Writ, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
