Cross-buy icon between PC and Sony’s system found in PS Store code and PS5 firmware

According to dataminer Amethxst, the icon first appeared in the system in March of this year.

A cross-buy icon was discovered in PlayStation 5 firmware. The initial find was made by dataminer Amethxst, and Dealabs later corroborated the discovery after locating the same symbol in the PlayStation Store’s code.

Other icons uncovered by Amethxst — such as a power-saving mode — are already used in the PS5 interface. However, the ‘Cross-Buy’ and ‘PS5/PC’ symbols have not been seen before, and they align closely with Sony’s official design language.

It’s not yet clear how the company plans to employ these badges. The most plausible explanation is that Sony may be preparing cross-buy support between PS5 and PC, similar to Microsoft’s Play Anywhere initiative for Xbox, allowing a single purchase to provide access across multiple platforms.
