Critics give mixed reviews to “Hit Man” starring Adria Arjona
The first wave of reviews for A24’s new thriller, “Onslaught,” has officially arrived online.
Initial critical reception remains polarized: the film, starring Adria Arjona, currently holds an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while landing a more modest score of 54 out of 100 on Metacritic.
Critics have lauded the film’s visceral action sequences, describing it as a dynamic blend of everything genre enthusiasts crave. However, many reviewers have pointed to a lackluster screenplay and an abrupt conclusion as significant drawbacks.
The story unfolds in the near future, where three experimental, highly lethal combat robots escape from a remote desert facility. To safeguard her daughter, Celeste (Arjona), a single mother and former military sniper, is forced to take extreme measures to survive.
Directed by Adam Wingard (“Godzilla vs. Kong”), the film features an ensemble cast including Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, and Drew Starkey. The Russian theatrical release is scheduled for September 17.
