Crash Bandicoot Turns 30 as Xbox Marks Anniversary With Minimal Recognition

Xbox and Activision have prepared no new projects for the franchise to mark the 30th anniversary of the first Crash Bandicoot game.

Crash Bandicoot was released on the PS1 on September 9, 1996, in the United States, and the PAL version followed on November 8 of the same year. For a long time, many players referred to the amusing marsupial as a “little fox.”

Rights to the series, originally created by Naughty Dog, now belong to Activision, which has been part of Microsoft since 2023. At the same time, no new installment has been announced for the 30th anniversary of Crash Bandicoot, which many fans had hoped for.

The only anniversary event has been the opportunity to acquire a Crash Bandicoot outfit in Fortnite for 1,500 V-Bucks. Festivities ended there, and fans of the series clearly expected more.
