Cozy Stardew Valley–style game shut down after five days of early access — developer admits they overestimated their abilities and were disappointed by the problematic launch

Player reaction to Landmaster left the developer disappointed.

Late in October, Landmaster launched on Steam in Early Access. The game is a cozy RPG-survival experience that evokes Stardew Valley and other similar genre titles.

The day after release, the developer announced a pause in work:

After Landmaster entered Early Access I quickly realized the game hasn’t reached the level I intended. Several core systems and stability issues need considerable work […].

The creator has since admitted he underestimated the scope of the work and currently has “insufficient free time” because of his full-time job:

Realistically, reaching an alpha build would take at least five to six months under ideal conditions — and far longer given limited time. For that reason, I’ve chosen to end development rather than leave the project unfinished.

He is urging players who already purchased Landmaster to request refunds, since he does not plan to complete the project.
