Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Surpasses Baldur’s Gate 3 in TGA Nominations — Larian’s Publishing Director Praises Developers’ Achievement
The example set by Expedition 33 could encourage other developers to fearlessly build what they truly want.
The breakout title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has earned nominations in 12 categories at The Game Awards 2025. By comparison, Baldur’s Gate 3 received only seven nominations.
Michael Daus, Publishing Director at Larian Studios, praised the achievement of Sandfall Interactive:
There’s something wildly inspiring about a fresh IP from a young team — especially one that emerges from a supposedly “dead” genre — when it not only surpasses the boldest sales expectations but also becomes the most‑nominated title in TGA history.
Michael believes the games industry is “a vast empty space waiting for the next [Expedition 33] to fill,” and he encourages fellow developers to keep creating boldly and share their original visions:
Maybe the next “Expedition 33” will be your game. Don’t chase trends — craft something authentic, and let recognition follow later.
