Clair Obscur Actors Urge The Game Awards to Add a Motion-Capture Category

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become the most-nominated title in The Game Awards’ history. The project’s principal performers — Ben Starr, Charlie Cox, and Jennifer English — are among the nominees recognized for acting.

In an interview with VGC, actors Jennifer English and Alyona Baranova urged the introduction of new award categories, including one honoring motion-capture performance (mo-cap).

Baranova asked:

If I may, could I petition for a dedicated “mo-cap” category? It’s something that needs to happen. For decades performers have done motion capture only to have someone else’s voice layered over them, and those artists have effectively disappeared — nobody knows who they are.

Baranova served as the motion-capture director on Baldur’s Gate 3, which also featured English, Nyx, and Wild.

A standalone award would encourage studios to release the behind-the-scenes material that audiences are eager to see.
