Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg Team Up to Make “Gremlins 3”

Beloved monsters are poised to return to the big screen nearly four decades after the original.

Warner Bros. has officially announced that Gremlins 3 is set to open in theaters on November 19, 2027. Chris Columbus — who directed the original film — will return as both director and producer, while Steven Spielberg will rejoin the project as an executive producer through his Amblin Entertainment banner.

This update was revealed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav during the company’s third-quarter report, where he noted that the studio is once again becoming a destination for creators.

The first Gremlins premiered in 1984 and became a bona fide pop-culture phenomenon, grossing $165 million worldwide. Its follow-up, Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990), performed more modestly at the box office but has since earned cult status.

Chris Columbus has long expressed a desire to bring the Gremlins back to theaters — and now that ambition is finally coming to fruition.
