ChainStaff adds free Hard Mode update and 20% Steam discount
ChainStaff has received a free Hard Mode update. Mommy’s Best Games released the new mode on Steam, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X.
Hard Mode raises the challenge without simply giving enemies more health. According to director and designer Nathan Fouts, enemies now attack in new ways, while some level sections have been redesigned to force different use of the ChainStaff and movement skills.
The update follows earlier patches that fixed bugs, improved translations, adjusted balance and added new cheats. Alongside Hard Mode, ChainStaff has entered a week-long 20% Steam discount. The sale runs until June 8 at 10 AM Pacific Time.
ChainStaff is a heavy action platformer about a mutant, an alien attached to his head and a transforming weapon. The ChainStaff can be thrown like a spear, planted as a shield and used as a grappling tool. The soundtrack was written by Deon van Heerden, composer of Broforce and Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood and Teef.
The game includes 10 levels, bosses built around specific combat problems, two upgrade paths and three endings. New Game+ lets players continue with their unlocked upgrades after finishing the campaign.
