“Cars” to be Re-released for its 20th Anniversary

Disney and Pixar are bringing John Lasseter’s beloved animated feature, Cars, back to the big screen. International theatrical screenings are scheduled to begin on September 4.

This special re-release commemorates the film’s 20th anniversary. Originally premiering in 2006, Cars follows the journey of Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson), a hotshot race car who finds himself stranded in a sleepy small town, leading him to gain a profound new perspective on life.

The film spawned a successful franchise, with sequels arriving in 2011 and 2017. Together, the trilogy has grossed $1.4 billion at the global box office, while the associated merchandise has generated a staggering $10 billion in revenue for Disney.
