Bungie is currently conducting extensive server stress tests for Marathon, gathering a wealth of player insights in the process. Initial feedback from the first day of testing highlighted several technical hurdles, including mouse input latency, malfunctioning in-game voice chat, sparse PvP encounters, and various criticisms regarding the user interface.
The studio has officially confirmed that the UI will undergo further refinements following the game’s debut, with a more detailed roadmap to be shared at a later date. Simultaneously, Bungie is investigating performance bottlenecks such as low GPU and CPU utilization, micro-stuttering, and excessive heat generation. Developmental focus is also being directed toward character physics, specifically movement fluidity and inertia. Furthermore, the team is fine-tuning the game’s economy of essentials, evaluating ammunition drop rates, stack sizes, and the overall effectiveness of healing items.
The current testing window is set to conclude on March 2, ahead of the game’s full release scheduled for March 5, 2026, on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Players can look forward to two confirmed maps—Outpost and Cryo Archive—as well as a dedicated ranked mode, comprehensive progression trees, and faction-specific contracts.
