“Bumer” to Get a Prequel
Director Pyotr Buslov has announced that he is developing a prequel to his cult classic film, Bumer. The upcoming project will be titled “Bumer: The Beginning.”
“You know, by the way, what’s coming? Just don’t tell Chliyants✱Sergey Chliyants, producer of Bumer — Editor’s note.. And don’t ask for details — I wouldn’t tell you anyway,”
— Buslov remarked in an interview with Vedomosti.
The original Bumer, released in 2003, followed the gripping story of four friends entangled in the criminal underworld who are forced to flee after a sudden altercation. The film starred Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Andrey Merzlikin, Sergey Gorobchenko, and Maxim Konovalov, and featured an iconic musical score by Sergey Shnurov.
A sequel to the hit film was released in 2006. More recently, Buslov launched the series OPG for the Okko streaming platform and is currently occupied with his upcoming feature film, “The Gang” (Banda).
