Blogger showcases Unreal Engine remake of canceled Resident Evil 4 horror version
The project’s creative direction underwent a radical transformation during its development.
The creator behind the YouTube channel Luli Studio recently showcased a personal remake of the “Resident Evil 3.5 Hookman” build, which was reconstructed using the Unreal Engine.
This project revives the scrapped version of Resident Evil 4 that was originally debuted at E3 2003. While Leon S. Kennedy remained the protagonist, the game was envisioned with a much darker, more supernatural atmosphere. The gameplay focused on Leon exploring a haunted castle, experiencing eerie hallucinations, and being relentlessly stalked by the “Hookman” entity.
Luli Studio clarified that the footage consists of older work and the original project files are no longer in his possession. Nevertheless, he is currently contemplating using his refined Unreal Engine skills to produce a fully realized, playable demo of the Resident Evil 3.5 experience:
