Blade Runner 2099 Creator Addresses Harrison Ford’s Involvement in Prime Video Series

Blade Runner remains deeply tied to Harrison Ford. The actor led Ridley Scott’s 1982 original movie and returned for Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049. With Amazon expanding the franchise through the upcoming miniseries Blade Runner 2099, fans have wondered whether Ford will reprise his role once again.

Series creator and showrunner Silka Luisa answered the question directly during an interview with Polygon.

Luisa confirmed that Ford will not appear in the series.

“Harrison Ford is not in the show,” Luisa said. “I feel like, as a Blade Runner fan, I would want to know that, so I’m just going to be full disclosure.”

The Prime Video series takes place 50 years after Blade Runner 2049 and 80 years after the original film. Replicants now run Earth, forcing human beings into the margins as an oppressed class. Set against a dystopian Los Angeles, the story follows two detectives working to track down criminal Replicants.
