Battlestar Galactica Deadlock to Be Removed from All Stores in One Week

Released in 2017, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is a space strategy title inspired by the popular TV series. Despite solid reviews and a loyal following, the game will soon be taken off sale. Fans believe this move is connected to the arrival of a new game in the Battlestar Galactica universe.

An announcement on the project’s Steam page states that Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will be pulled from sale on November 15, 2025. The game will be removed from Steam and GOG, as well as from the Xbox and PlayStation stores. Those who already own it will keep it in their libraries; everyone else has roughly a week to purchase it.

The developers have not provided an explanation for the delisting, which has prompted a wave of speculation. Some suggest licensing problems, while others are convinced the move is related to the upcoming release of Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes, expected in early 2026.

Commenters point out that publisher Slitherine has, on occasion, withdrawn older titles before launching similar projects to avoid internal competition. However, Scattered Hopes is being published by Dotemu, not Slitherine.

On Reddit, users speculate the issue could involve copyright or music licensing. It’s also possible the brand owners no longer wish to support an older product that no longer turns a profit.

Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is a turn-based strategy in which players command the Colonial Fleet in the war against the Cylons. The game holds a 77/100 on Metacritic and has 87% positive reviews on Steam.
