Battlefield 6’s UK launch outperformed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 — journalist

There are no official sales figures for CoD 7 yet, and it’s likely they won’t be released for some time. The game’s arrival on Xbox Game Pass makes it harder to determine exact numbers. Still, data out of the UK reported by journalist Christopher Dring has surfaced.

Those figures suggest Activision has reason to be concerned. Over the weekend, jokes circulated online about a weak performance on Steam. It appears the problem may extend beyond PC. UK market data indicates physical copy sales are considerably lower than the series’ typical levels when compared to previous entries and to EA’s competing release.

According to British sources, Black Ops 7 sold 61% fewer physical units at launch than Black Ops 6. Estimates imply that if Black Ops 6 opened with roughly 105,000 boxed copies, Black Ops 7 moved only about 40,000. Even when factoring in digital sales, the total may be around 170,000 versus about 450,000 for the prior installment.

Despite the influence of Xbox Game Pass and the ongoing shift toward digital purchases, early indications show Battlefield 6 clearly leading at launch.
