Battlefield 6 players begin receiving compensation for EA App outage at launch

Electronic Arts hasn’t ignored the troubled launch of Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 players have started receiving compensation for the EA App outage that occurred on release day. Users report that the rewards are being delivered through the game’s internal mail system.

The malfunction happened on launch day, when some EA App users encountered an error that caused the launcher to incorrectly state they did not own Battlefield 6. The issue reached Battlefield series head Vince Zampella, who suggested players “use Steam”, and the error was fixed shortly thereafter.

As an apology, EA pledged to provide affected players with XP boosters and a seasonal battle pass. According to posts on Reddit and Discord, the compensation only began arriving now — more than a month after release. Players note that the bonuses appear in Battlefield 6’s inbox, and those who haven’t received anything yet are advised to check their “Inbox” the next time they launch the game.

However, some users say they received only the XP boosters while the promised battle passes are missing. That discrepancy has sparked renewed criticism of the publisher, although many still hope the full compensation will be delivered.

Despite the technical problems at launch, Battlefield 6 became the year’s top-selling shooter. Analysts at Alinea Analytics estimate that by October 15 the game had sold over 6.5 million copies, with total sales potentially approaching 10 million.
