Bandai Namco to Release Resident Evil 2 Remake With Co-op on a New Platform — But Not Everyone Will Be Able to Play It
Fans will soon have the opportunity to experience the survival horror masterpiece in a dedicated arcade format.
The acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake is set to return in a bold new way. Capcom, in collaboration with Bandai Namco Experience, has announced a specialized version designed specifically for arcade cabinets.
This adaptation significantly reimagines the gameplay and content of the original remake. Rebranded as a light-gun shooter, the title invites players to wield “realistic firearm peripherals” engineered to simulate authentic recoil and tactile feedback.
To heighten the sensory immersion, the arcade unit features a vibrating floor and “atmospheric air effects,” where bursts of compressed air are triggered by on-screen events to simulate environmental hazards and impacts.
This arcade rendition of the Resident Evil 2 remake also introduces a two-player cooperative mode, allowing friends to navigate the horrors of Raccoon City together.
Furthermore, the debut trailer suggests a crossover of sorts, hinting that players may cross paths with a legendary monstrosity from Resident Evil 3.
