The Starfinder: Afterlight crew is gaining a new member — an insect-like Shirren mystic who tends to a beloved larva. The character will be voiced by Neil Newbon — an actor and motion-capture specialist.
He had previously revealed he was working as the project’s voice director, and now fans have confirmation: his voice will appear in the game.
In an interview, Newbon said that Epictellers Entertainment “hardly had to persuade” him to take the part.
Newbon described Prich as a “book lover” and the devoted guardian of the Golden — the larva who, according to prophecy, will bring miracles to their people. He frames him as the “father” figure among the companions, a counterpart to Captain Khali’s maternal role, dubbing the character “Daddy Bug” and “Daddy Prich.”
Prich is markedly different from Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, but the actor hinted that romance options might exist:
“Hey, insects can be very attractive. I think so. Take mantises, for example — look at them.”
Romantic relationships are confirmed in the game, so Newbon will have opportunities to showcase his talent regardless of the character’s appearance.
The project (Steam page) can be supported on Kickstarter until November 6, 2025. Early access is planned for 2026, with further character and cast announcements to follow.
