Australia Bans Horror Game Halloween Over Mind-Altering Substances

The upcoming asymmetric horror game Halloween: The Game will not be released in Australia and New Zealand.

The Australian Classification Board refused to assign an age rating to the game, making its official sale in the region impossible.

Developer IllFonic announced this on social media, noting that the team did everything possible to secure permission to release the game in Australia. However, they were unable to obtain a rating.

The ban was not caused by Michael Myers or the brutal murders that players can commit as the iconic killer. According to the developers, the classification board denied the game a rating due to the presence of mind-altering substances.

In all other countries, the game will launch on September 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition will get early access starting on September 4.
