Ubisoft has officially confirmed a dedicated livestream this week to unveil the long-awaited remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Fans can finally get a glimpse of the overhauled experience, now officially titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, on Thursday, April 23.
The showcase is scheduled to broadcast on YouTube at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET. While the project has been an open secret for years—with rumors swirling and industry insiders dropping hints as far back as 2023—Ubisoft only pulled back the curtain in March. At that time, the developer teased the reveal with thematic artwork and a cryptic message: “…some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.”
Originally launching in 2013 across both legacy and then-next-gen consoles, Black Flag transported players to the Golden Age of Piracy between 1715 and 1722. The narrative follows Edward Kenway, a swashbuckling pirate entangled in the eternal shadow war between the Assassins and the Templars. Beyond its iconic naval combat and sprawling open-ocean exploration, the game remains a fan favorite for its seamless blend of historical seafaring and signature parkour-based stealth.
Given that over a decade has passed since its original debut, a modern reimagining is a logical and welcome step for the franchise. The gaming community is now waiting to see the extent of this “resyncing”—whether it will be a faithful, visually polished remaster or a comprehensive structural overhaul that modernizes the mission design and gameplay loops.
