Artificial biopic starring Yura Borisov may be delayed to 2027

According to a report from Page Six, Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film Artificial may be pushed from its original fall 2026 release window to early 2027.

The reported reason is Amazon MGM’s reluctance to release the project in the same timeframe as Aaron Sorkin’s Social Network sequel, Social Studies, which is slated for a U.S. release on October 9. Both films share similar thematic DNA, as they offer critical examinations of influential modern corporations.

Amazon has not yet commented on the speculation. Prior reports suggested the studio was eyeing a premiere at the Venice Film Festival this September.

Artificial explores the career of controversial OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The cast features Andrew Garfield, Yura Borisov (portraying OpenAI’s former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever), Monica Barbaro, and Cooper Hoffman, among others, with a screenplay penned by Simon Rich (Inside Out).
