Anne Hathaway to Star Alongside Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder Sequel
Anne Hathaway has officially joined the cast of the upcoming sequel to the 1990 racing drama Days of Thunder, starring opposite Tom Cruise. Paramount Pictures has slated the film for a theatrical release on June 2, 2028. Cruise is set to reprise his iconic role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle, while Hathaway will portray a brilliant team owner and engineer.
Jonathan Levine, acclaimed for his work on Warm Bodies, will direct the feature. The screenplay is penned by Will Staples, with Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tommy Harper serving as producers. The production is being developed specifically for a premium cinematic experience, with plans for an IMAX release.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, it has been confirmed that the narrative will once again delve into the high-stakes world of NASCAR, following the trajectory of the character Cole Trickle from Tony Scott’s original film. In this new installment, Trickle will navigate the modern era of professional racing alongside Hathaway’s character.
