Andrew Garfield Won’t Appear in the Sequel to “The Social Network”

Actor Andrew Garfield dismissed speculation about his involvement in Social Reckoning — the follow-up to the 2010 film The Social Network.

Garfield portrayed Eduardo Saverin, one of Facebook’s co-founders (the social network is owned by Meta and has been designated extremist and banned in Russia).

“No, no. Eduardo is in Singapore and enjoying life,” Garfield joked to IndieWire.

Saverin relinquished his U.S. citizenship and moved to Singapore in 2009. The original film also starred Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Armie Hammer, and was directed by David Fincher.

Social Reckoning will be written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. The leads will be played by Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong. The story will focus on revelations about Facebook’s internal corporate practices. Sony Pictures is scheduled to release the film on October 9, 2026.

Garfield is set to appear this October in the thriller After the Hunt.
