In October, Krafton announced it is the first game company to be fully oriented around AI.
The South Korean developer Krafton, known for PUBG, inZOI and Subnautica, has introduced a voluntary departure program intended to streamline and automate workflows through AI.
According to Business Korea, the move follows record financial results for the most recent quarter. Krafton also revealed substantial investments — more than 100 billion won (roughly $72 million) allocated to each target area: the Indian market and AI technology.
A Krafton representative stressed that this is not a mass layoff, but an option being offered to employees.
The primary objective is to empower employees to choose their own paths for growth and new challenges, both within the company and beyond, as AI reshapes the industry. We will support team members in independently deciding whether to pursue change internally or explore opportunities outside the firm.
Chief Financial Officer Bae Don-gun said during a recent earnings briefing that hiring is frozen except for divisions developing original intellectual property and for AI specialists.
