According to a fresh analysis by Tom’s Hardware, Nvidia commanded a staggering 95% of the gaming GPU market in 2025, while AMD’s share plummeted from 8% to a historic low of just 5%.
Total industry shipments reached 44.28 million graphics cards, with the vast majority of these units bearing the “Team Green” badge.
Consumers continue to lean toward Nvidia, citing a more robust software ecosystem and superior technological implementations, specifically in ray tracing and AI-driven upscaling. Despite AMD’s efforts with the Radeon 9000 series and its aggressive positioning in the budget segment, the company has been unable to bridge the gap with its primary rival.
Industry experts suggest that AMD is currently struggling to match Nvidia’s performance in several critical areas. Although AMD remains the dominant force in the APU market, regaining lost ground in the discrete GPU space will likely necessitate significant improvements in software stability and driver support.
