Actor Who Played Desmond in Assassin’s Creed Didn’t Know His Character Had Died Until He Received a Message From a Fan
That scripted choice proved to be a genuine revelation for the actor.
Actor Nolan North, who portrayed Desmond Miles in the Assassin’s Creed series, recently spoke with Fall Damage. He revealed that he was unaware for some time that his character had been killed off — he only learned about it when someone mentioned it to him on social media.
Officially, that was Desmond’s death scene — and I didn’t suspect a thing. I only found out on Twitter when someone asked, “Are you upset about Desmond’s death?” and I was like, “Wait — what?”
Nolan was quite taken aback, since there was no dramatic outcry or the usual elements that typically accompany the death of a major character.
The actor went on to recount his conversation with the developers:
The folks at Ubisoft told me he’s “technically not dead.” From what I understand, the original plan was to carry Desmond through eight or nine games. But, as often happens in entertainment, new teams and creative directors come on board with their own ideas about where the story should go.
