“A Dog’s Purpose” author to write and direct drone horror movie

American filmmaker Ben Leonberg, known for his work on Good Boy, has announced his upcoming project: a chilling horror film centered on drones.

The plot follows a group of teenagers who shoot down a drone, only to discover it contains footage of brutal murders committed by a serial killer. The movie will be filmed entirely from the perspective of drones in real-time.

Leonberg’s directorial debut, Good Boy, premiered in 2025 and depicted a dog grappling with its owner’s terrifying, demonic transformation. The film proved to be a significant financial success, grossing $8.8 million worldwide against a modest budget.
