However, Capcom isn’t deleting these unsettling moments; instead, they are “masking” them by disabling specific in-game assets. This approach has left players with a very peculiar visual experience.
User iStretchyDisc shared their impressions after testing the censored version, arguing that these specific modifications completely shatter player immersion.
Instead of rendering detailed gore or “innards,” the developers are now using flat black shaders. While this technique was previously utilized in the Resident Evil 4 remake, it appears to have become even more jarring in this latest installment:
